[SOLVED] I’m upgrading my GPU. Do I need to reinstall Drivers?

I’m going from a GTX 1060 3 GB to an RTX 2060. Do I need to reinstall my drivers before doing the swap? I’m running driver version 436.02. Thanks!

There's a debate to either side really.

In many cases, it should run perfectly fine, and when you install Geforce with the latest GPU, it should identify which drivers are needed.

Best practice is just to wipe and clean install anyway to prevent any potential problem. But I'd suspect you'd be fine.

Short Answer: NO. It's not necessary to re-install the GPU drivers, since both cards are from NVIDIA. Though , if you wish use the DDU tool, and do a clean re-install of the drivers in safe mode.
