Brand HP

If the battery reset correctly it should clear all CMOS passwords and reset settings to factory default. What you have to do is unplug the system from the power, remove the batter, wait 10 seconds, and replace battery. If there is s still a password upon bootup then it may be an HP factory safety thing. That should clear it though.

+1 to alvine, exactly what he said. and to go into a bit of depth on the subject. Companys do design it in every way to prevent you from accessing the BIOS whether you see the BIOS logo on boot up or not. You will never be able to access the BIOS. Plus i don't recommend tempering with the bios as warrantry may be voided on the entire computer.

Ok, there is a password clear header on the Mobo :)
These models have that specifically there you need to take a closer look at the mobo and short the pins using a flathead screwdriver or the jumpers there when the rig is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet.

Sorry, Tom's Hardware forum doesn't provide any guide to bypass password protection.
