I have this seagate hdd which was in my pc. Now that i am not working in my desktop , i was thinking of making this hdd an extra drive for my laptop. Is there a way i can connect the HDD to my laptop via USB? And do i have to give seperate power supply to the HDD? If so how do i do that? Please help.

You can use a HDD box 3.5 sata (or ide).It has its own power supply

Thanks, would that be the only option? See, i wanted to know the cheapest option available.
This is my HDD, do i have to remove its case or anything?

. Could you please tell me how the HDD box will work? Is it same as a sata to usb converter? How to put the HDD in the box? It would be really helpful if you can give me a link. Thank you
