i have a hp laptop with a win vista os and ntfs file system . my old 2007 macbook fell and broke it has a toshiba sata hd . i bought a sata enclosure with usb cable i took the hd out of the macbook pluged it into the adaptor and the windows laptop. although it shows up in diskmanagement it wasnt asaigned a drive letter and i cant read any data on the mac hd is there anything i can do

Actually nothing you can do for this case. The HDD has media damaged cause your macbook fell down.

If the data is important for you, I strongly encourage you send all drives to a professional data recovery company before all chances of recovery are lost.
