Question i installed a new cpu, and now my machine has sudden shut downs

my machine has:
asus p7h55 motherboard
i3-550
gtx 1050 ti
600w psu
(4) 2g ddr3
34 in uw fhd monitor

so i upgraded the cpu to an i7 870 and updated the bios. Everything boots properly, and i am able to log in and proceed. however, at random moments the machine will shut down completely. everytime i reboot it, it'll go thru the whole process normally and then as im working on stuff or browsing, itll shut down again.
another issue is it doesnt seem to detect my graphics card and doesnt output the correct resolution for monitor.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

You will have to check cpu temps use a monitor software like CoreTemps, Hardware Monitor or hwinfo. Whjat cooler are you using for the CPU?

As for general, when was the last time you did a full clean install of Windows ?

Im using a cooler master hyper 212 evo. im running windows 10, and the last time i installed it was probably a year ago

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

i havent tried that yet. before i try that, would replacing my psu solve the issue? these parts are pretty old besides the cpu, gpu, and ram sticks
