I need a 2nd monitor to go with a 22" Widescreen Samsung 226BW

Now that I have decided to get the 22" Widescreen Samsung 226BW, I now need to find a non-widescreen monitor to go with it.

I like having 2 separate monitors as I am used to having 2 19" CRTs for the past 5 years.

I think I am better off with a non-widescreen for the second because it will be mostly be used to surf the net while watching movies or using Photoshop on the 22".

Any ideas. I good cheaper S-IPS monitor may be great. If it rotates, that would be nice to like the Samsung 971P.

If you already have the Samsung monitor, I'd suggest getting a matching one. I've tried two monitors in the past and I found it best for my eyes and lack of headaches to have them matching. To put it a different way, I started out with a 22" CRT and a 22" lcd and it drove my eyes buggy looking from one to the other. I changed to two LCDs and the headaches and eyestrain went away.

I myself have been thinking of getting a 24" widesreen, but it requires a lot of video card power when gaming, like using SLI or Crossfire for the best frame rates, detail, etc. So far, I'm sticking with the Samsung 22" 226BW. If you haven't bought the Samsung monitor yet, then a single 24" monitor may be the best way to go. Just my opinion.

Absolutely get identical monitors if you go for dual-setup. I have a 20" and a 21.6" and I found it very annoying at first.

I'd prefer two 22" monitors to a 24", but that's just me. I do a lot of surfing on a monitor with PowerDVD running on the other.

A 24" monitor typically runs at 1920x1200. If you've got an 8800 GTX or two then you'll be fine at that resolution. If not, you're better off with 1680x1050 i.e. a 22" monitor.

I think I want to go with the 22" Samsung 226BW with a non-widescreen 19" Monitor.

Which 19" monitor would pait nicely in quality, size, and overall visual appeal.

This one should be good. It has 16.7 million colors (it's a better panel than those with 16.2 million), a decent response time, it's non-widescreen. Maybe also look at LG and ViewSonic for other good options.

Dude, 24" Acer from Costco was my endulgence. You'll never look back.
