I know this board has 2 m.2 ssd but those are really expensive so i was thinking about running a normal Kingston 126gb ssd. But i just recently watched a video saying the sata cables that are used to attach the board to the ssd stop working if you plug in something into the pci-e slot. I need the pci-e slot to work so i can put in my wireless internet adapter because the board dosen't have a ac built in.

Solution
You won't have any problems whatsoever with such scenario.

The only instance that a SATA port will be disabled in your particular motherboard is if you plug a SATA-based M.2 SSD on the M2_2 slot (the one at the bottom) - still leaving you with five available SATA ports to use. But if you plug a PCIe-based M.2 SSD on the M2_2 slot instead, the PCI_E6 (the bottom-most PCIe slot) will be disabled and all your six SATA ports will be available.

Note that even if you disable the PCI_E6 slot, you still have two PCIe3.0 x16 slots (the PCI_E1 at top and the PCI_E4 at the middle) available for your GPU which are both controlled by the Ryzen CPU, and, you also have three PCIe2.0 x1 slots (PCI_E2, PCI_E3 and PCI_E5) all controlled by the X470...

The M2_1 slot (the one at the top), which only supports PCIe-based M.2 SSDs, does not share bandwidth with any other slot - as this slot is controlled by the Ryzen CPU at full PCIe3.0 x4 speeds.
