I'm not sure if this is the correct forum or not, but I always get good advice and info here. Tonight, my sons were on a Power Rangers website playing some games. After they went to bed, I came upstairs to power down the PC like I do everynight. The PC seemed sluggish, so I thougt I would run a defrag. I tried to, but the PC kept locking. I did a hard shutdown with the intent of bringing it back up. When I tried that, the computer reboots, but nothing is displayed on my CRT. The CD-Rom spins and my monitor displays good green LED's, but there is no RAM countdown or any type of BIOS availability. Nothing on bootup and completely blank screen. It's an older machine, running a P1.8Mhz with 1GB of RAM and Win XP Pro. Does anyone know what I can do to get the BIOS at the least or better yet Windows in safe mode to run? If I could get to BIOS, I could probably get to windows, but I cannot get to that even. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

is your computer a brand name or homebuilt
check the power supply fans to make sure they are running. also check the video card fan .

if your comfortable inside your computer try the following.
also so just so i don't take anything for granted be sure to disconnect the power cord from computer and hold the on buton for a couple of seconds before removing or adding any parts

sounds to me like a hardware failure. since your machine won't post remove or disconnect all hard drives.cd/dvd rom drives, floppy drives and remove
any addon cards modems or sound cards. that should only leave fans ram processor + heatsink and video card. try to boot. if still no post remove video card. should hear error beeps from your pc speaker. if not the remove ram and try to boot again you should get some error beeps from you pc speaker.
if not your processor or motherboard has failed. could also be a power supply problem but not not likley since ther was enough power to spin your drives up.

Thank you very much for responding. I will disconnect everything and follow your instructions. I truly appreciate your help. BTW, it's a home built, but from about five years ago. I'm comfortable inside the case, I've just never had an instance of not being able to get to the BIOS, while still having power to the case. The fans are spinning, as are the drives. This doesn't look good. 🙁
