I just got a new Dimension 4700. I (and the friend who set up the
ICS) have attached a removable hard drive to it several times. He
attached it to one of the USB ports on the back of the CPU and the
system froze a couple of times, which he decided was related to the
removable hard drive, so I've stuck to using one of the USB ports on
the front of the CPU and haven't had a problem with the system
freezing, but have had a big problem. The contents showed up in
Windows Explorer just fine until I tried attaching a Compact Flash
card reader to the other front port. The computer recognized that the
device was attached, but failed to read the contents. After a lot of
plugging and unplugging, the computer will currently see the card
reader immediately when I plug it into either front USB port, but it
will not recognize the removable hard drive. I've tried turning it
off and back on, and attaching it and removing it, numerous times and
am at my wit's end about what to try next. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
