Hi there,
Last few days I see unusual behavior on my main PC, without any load it the mouse simply freezes for a second, then continues to move. Sometimes the PC completely freeze and reboot is the only option to get it back working.

Although I know I haven't done any troubleshooting so far, I think first I don't have the time to do it and second, I'm using this box last almost 10 years so far.
So yeah, probably is a perfect time for an upgrade.

Let me show you first, what I have and the main purpose of the PC:

Code:
PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-CimInstance -Class Win32_BaseBoard | Format-Table Manufacturer, Product, SerialNumber, Version -Auto

Fair enough this build was rock solid system.

Because I do PC builds once every roughly 5-10 years, I'm not aware of the latest technologies so decided to refresh my mind by choosing an already built PC and check its hardware.
As I'm fan of Lenovo tower PCs, I've selected this one, just to check the inventory:
https://ardes.bg/product/lenovo-legion-t7-34iaz7-tower-90s2005yrm-w11p-312754

The main components here are as follow:

- Intel Core i9-12900KF (2.4/5.2GHz, 30M)
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB
- 4 x 16 GB DDR5 4800 MHz

I intend to use my old PC case (ATX size). I saw these guys have so called "configurator" in their site so I've selected similar components to check what price I will got. Here they are:

https://ardes.bg/configurator?cpu=2...ram_2=271527&gpu=339224&hdd=344649&psu=295774

Here you can check more info about all the listed components:

So to the question now - please share your thoughts about this system.

The main use of the PC is to be a daily driver. Which include almost nothing like load because I'm working as an IT and play with servers almost all the time.
But beside that, sometimes I want to use Adobe products like Photoshop and Premiere, and run some virtual machines for testing.

The PC won't run 24/7, and I really want to stay focused into the upgrade possibility.

So any replacement of any of the components is welcomed, but wanted to see all the benefits and drawbacks for the selection.
Thanks in advice.

That cooler is not enough to cool down i9.
You're looking at high end air cooler or AIO liquid cooler with 240mm radiator minimum.

If you want to save some cost, then go with DDR4 board and DDR4 ram instead.

You didn't mention any gaming use for your system. Then probably new graphics card is not needed.

1000W psu - is excessive unless you have a high end graphics card and something like 10x 3.5" HDDs in your system.

Guys, thanks for the replies, don't know why I'm not getting notifications about that.

I intend to use my old PC case (ATX size).
You might want to forgo that idea and stick to the case that comes with the prebuilt, from the factory.

Can you tell me why?

@SkyNetRising no gaming at all.

I have only 2x3.5'' HDDs.

Oo sorry I wanted to say I have the OS installed on SATA3 SSD and two additional 3.5'' HDDs.

Can you suggest appropriate coller for that CPU? By the way I'm not even sure I want that powerful CPU at all.

Why integrated graphics?

I have selected this fan because I saw that this is not a box processor and I also know that box fans are quite noisy.

What about future upgrade, expandability like new video card or 10GB networking?
What about bifurcation, is that main board support it?

Almost anything is an upgrade for you. In fact regarding integrated graphics there was an article a day or two ago that amd is about to release some apu chips (cpu with graphics built in) that basically have graphics on par with your gtx 1060.

At work we typically use Dell systems and anymore you can run 3 screens off of the Intel graphics. These days if you aren’t gaming there’s not a reason to buy a high end gpu these days.

I see your viewpoint. Although I'm not a gamer, I work with Premiere and Photoshop which is almost the same :)

So integrated graphics will not be enough here.
