If you bought a game on a CD and it doesn't install on steam.
Go to library --> Down left corner --> Add game --> add-non steam game --> And just locate the ExE files of the game you installed.
(The exe file is in the installation folder of the game)
Choose the EXE file and hit "add" And the game should appear in your steam library.

if it is a single player campaign just start a new profile EG- player one/player 2
I think multiplayer can also be accessed seperately by this method
