I cant afford a new case right now, you think I'd be able to fit a new motherboard, processor, graphics card inside of the Dell Dimension 4400 case?

This is the Dell Dimension 4400

aw come on people I'm not asking for much, I just want to know your opinions, man I literally never get help on this forum anymore :( what happend man people used to be so helpful. Please just give me your opinions. I just want to put a new AMD motherboard in an old Dell Dimension 4400 case. I don't want to buy the motherboard for it to not fit.

Come on, help a brother out here

You want me to take a guess based on a tiny picture and no other information. Your second link has no pictures and does not even mention what motherboard or form factor is used.

My best guess is that the case is too shallow to accommodate a modern CPU cooler.

If you already have the case, take some decent pictures and post them.

Just scroll down on the second link and there are pictures

This is the mobo that's originally in there.

Mike, I may have missed something in the proceeding posts, so please tolerate my reply.

IMO you'll spend more money in time trying to fit contemporary mobo, PSU, etc. in that quaint Dell case. Are you sure you're unable to spend $45 on an Antec 300 in the next 30 days?

I actually went and got my old Dell 4400 out and looked inside.
I can't see anything that says what you want to do is a "no-go" but I also can't confirm it will work. Hard to tell for sure from the information you've given us so far.

Why not visit the Dell forums and see what other 4400 owners have done for MB upgrades? Ask the same question there.

Well, now that I've had a couple of mins to think about this it is an interesting prospect. I'd love to be able to put a contemporary mobo in the Dell XPS 600's MetroPlex case that my wife has. ...but the mobo doesn't even screw down, its got these clips instead.

I wonder if the OP's 4400 has something similiar.

The 4400 uses hex-head screws instead of the more common motherboard screws. And it has some type of micro-atx motherboard tray and what looks, but I cant confirm, a normal MB screw pattern.

Lol I'm pretty broke, I only had enough for the Graphics card, Processor, and the Motherboard.

So your sure this wont work?

I'm not sure at all, it may indeed work, just seeks like a...project for the sake of a...project.

...but I understand times are tough now. I'm not sure about the mounting in the case you have, but I'd be surprised if Dell used a standard ATX screw pattern.

You could always sell a Kidney and buy a new case with the money.
