I5 2400s vs athlon 860k

My friend gave me an i5 2400s and i bought an 860k wich one should i use for my gaming pc

But the Intel platform would have a greater upgrade path if you can still find 2nd gen Core CPUs still available. The FM2+ platform (860K), on the other hand, is about at the top of the food chain as it is.

I would go Intel for upgrade path and it will perform a bit better, as for the FM2+ it is a dead socket dont go there, i would recommend LGA 1151 Socket for best upgrade path with a B150 Board for extra USB and SATA connectors.

Yes by far better, on the FM2+ mobo there is really no better besides AM3+ but it also sucks compared to I5 the I3 2 cores are better than a FX 8320 or 8350 with 4 cores out of 8 being used and equivalent to those with 5 cores, but almost all games only use 4 cores so then therefore the I5 will perform better than a FX 8350 with all 8 cores. That leads to getting a I5 6600K with 4 cores.
