Hey:)

I just installed an Asus p8p67 le, i5 2500k, corsair vengence 2 X 4gb 1600.

i already had an xfx 4850 1gb, aswell as a 500gb hitachi harddrive from my old pc, and venemous x.

so basicallt the problem is that when i start up windows the computer restarts after a blackscreen for a few seconds after the windows logo. (windows 7 64 bit ultimate)

the cpu and motherboard temps in bios are under 30 celcius so it aint overheating.
All the settings to bios are set to default, and wont boot. i tried changing the memeory frequency to 1333 as this is what highest it can be according to scan.co.uk without overclocking it. but still nothing. help please

just tried installing and i got a weird error on asking for drivers during install so i just baught a new hard drive. should be here in next few days. hopefully that should fix any issues

I don't think your harddrive was the problem. Did you reformat the drive before telling windows where to install win7? What drivers did it ask for?

Normally when I do a "Cleaqn" install I select custom Install and delete all partiotions one the HDD, then create a partition for the install, select it and complete installation. Use windows Disk management to partiton the remainder of the drive.

im going to do as Retiredchief suggested above on an old ide harddrive, see if i can at leas boot ionto windows =. Thanks for all support so far.

okay you were correct it was my failure to do a clean install. :)

now i have abit of a problem. in cpuz it says my i5 2500k stock is at 1.6ghz, and that the memory which should be at 1333 is at 668.9mhz.

Since your ram is dual layer 668*2 = 1333 so thats correct. The reason your cpu speed might show 1.6ghz is because its in a resting state so it goes to that to save power. Its called speedstepping. Run prime95 a cpu stability testing program that will make your cpu run 100% on each core and then check again. It should be running at 3.3 or 3.4 whatever the default clock speed for the i5 is.

okay that makes allot of sense, thanks fo the help. ima trying to thumbs up for you and others that helped but it says i ahve already voted. Thanks to all 😀
