Hello community, so I just recently fresh installed video drivers for my Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 gaming and unfortunately it has not reached its full potential in terms of performance. I did a benchmark test of the GPU with 3DMark software, and during the "physics test" the FPS was only 20. Whereas others that I have compared "physics test" with had at least 40 FPS.. Uniquely, my graphics score is almost as similar to theirs. The overall score of mine is 12217 with graphics score of 19473 and physics score of 6114, and I have done it several times but the score of graphics score is similar but the physics score is not. I compared my overall score with others and most of them has 15000+, and their physics score is doubled the amount than mine. Also, when I play BF4 multiplayer on max settings and VSync off, the FPS does not exceed over 100 FPS all the time; rather floats around 55-90 FPS. But when I watch others' BF4 multiplayer benchmark on Youtube, the FPS is around 105-140. I also understand that they uses an i7 processor. Whereas I am using an i5-3570k at a stock clock speed and I have never overclock it. So I am curious in buying a cooler and overclock it to 4.4-4.5 GHz; will it aid the GTX 980 Ti to reach its full potential? Or should I invest in an i7-4790K and a new MOBO?

Here is my 3DMark score: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9432974?

PC Specs:
MOBO: MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming
GPU: Gigagbyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB
CPU: i5-3570k LGA 1155 with stock cooler
HDD: WD 1TB (Green)

I appreciate any advice/help/solution and thanks in advance!

I wouldn't think it to be bottlenecking, the i5 3570k could handle any single graphics card, check to make sure that all of your RAM is working, if that is not the problem, try checking all of your components and making sure they are all correctly working, and all of your drivers are also installed. Worst case scenerio, you would have to send it back and get a new one.

Yeah everything is up to date and my ram's timing is set properly. I think I am gonna overclock it first and see if that makes a difference.

Judging from your original post, I don't know to what degree but the cpu is definitely slower than your graphics card. Once you overclock it and run your tests again, i'm sure you'll see an increase in your physics score. While most games right now don't use cpu as much as gpu, it is becoming more common. As for upgrading to a 4790k, it will blow away any i5 you put it up against, but you probably won't see too much difference gaming, mostly in benchmarking.

I agree with you with the i7. Also, if you are familiar with the GPU, I was playing BF4 earlier and my GPU fans were not running at 65C. That is how newer GPU suppose to work right? Like the fans will start running when it gets hot maybe? Because I set the fan curve on manual: 30C-40%, 40C-60%, 50C-70%, 60C-70%, 70C-90%.

I am using MSI Afterburner for the fan curve. But yeah that is what I heard.

Okay, I was worried you meant that they never come on! Lol, but that's a energy saving thing they build in. The 980ti is a big card and if they don't use the fans at low temps it saves energy.
