Hi all,

I have recently upgraded my system and have been having thermal throttling warnings when stressing the CPU.

Current system:
Asus b660 plus d4
Intel i7 13700k not overclocking atm
32gb 3200mhz
125gb m.2 gen3
500gb m.2 gen3
1tb HDD
1000w psu

For cooling, I have BeQuite Pure Rock 2.
And 1 chassis fan so far.

While playing games, Warzone, the cpu temps fluctuate between 85-99% after gaming for an hour.

My question is BeQuite says this cooler is suffient to cool this specific cpu but with average of 90c temps it's clear that it cannot.

Would adding an additional fan to the heatsink help the temps.

BeQuite says the hestsink tdp is 150 and Intel says the i7 13700k tdp is 125 so this should work but its not.

Any advise?

What case?

Have you taken a look at power/watt settings in the BIOS? I have no idea what you might get by default on that Asus motherboard.

Are you throttling or just getting warnings that you are approaching it?

I don't see a gpu listed. It's going to be shoving some of its waste heat into the cooler.

Intel says the i7 13700k tdp is 125...
Yeah... that rating only applies to the cpu's base clock, and no one locks their cpu to that, unless they're tinkering around with it. The 'real' TDP with Intel Turbo Boost is way higher, at 253w, but the motherboard might not be following that.
