Hello,

I know that physically is possible to upgrade from 720QM to 940XM,my concern is--tdp's are 45 for 720 and 55 for 940xm. am I going to burn my Sony vaio F series if I do so?

-Its a PM55.

Are there any ways to cool it down?

Hello and thanks for your answer!

Those processors are for laptops-they support up to 100.

TJUNCTION= 100°C

Max TDP 55 W

My question is whether or not if I replace it with a higher TDP processor which produces more heat during intensive usage(55 w against 45 w from the old processor) will the motherboard/cooling be able to keep it below 100(as it did with the 45 w processor)?

If not,is there any way to cool it down? additional fan..etc.. ?

?

Yes. higher wattage means more thermal output. If it is just a 10 watt increase, not a big deal. As long as you don't go above 80 degrees centigrade, you are fine, As for cooling, you may need to check the laptop to see who the vendor is and ask them where to get additional cooling.
