My i7 8086k broke my computer how do I fix?
I replaced my old i5 with an i7 8086k because of game stutters and now I get 20fps.

Specs,
32gb ram
500gb ssd
Gtx 1070
I7 8086k
Msi z370 Sli plus

Is the processor correctly identified (8086K) upon power on self test when hardware summary is shown early in power on display?

As the other poster above correctly noted, I can only pray you did not think a factory provided cooler from an 8400, inadequate even for the 8400 itself under gaming loads, would even remotely be sufficient for an 8086K...

SImply swapping CPUs and powering on thinking /hoping it will all just work itself out in Windows with regards to cores/thread detection is also suspect...

How many cores/threads (logical processors) are currently shown in task manager/performance?

a factory fan from an i5 designed for a 65w TDP cpu is 200% completely inadequate for an 8086K....(which can radiate 135-150 watts under load)

You are thermally throttling....BIG TIME.

Get a cooler.

A good one would be nice... (If your case is wide enough, a Noctua NH-D15 is a nice start, look for an AIO/240 mm radiator solution....)
