I7 920 and memory timings

One month ago I had no clue about overclocking and stuff... today I'm a proud owner of i7 920 and I know some basics about overclocking. So I OCd my proc to 3.8GHz and is running stable with max temps at 74°C. I made these changes in the BIOS, everything else is on default settings:

Multi: x20
BLCK: 190
Vcore: 1.3
QPI/Vtt volts: 1.35
DRAM: 1.65
QPI Link: x36
Uncore Freq: x17
System MemMult - 8x
HT off, turbo off

The only thing I still have no clue about even though I read tons of forum posts and tutorials and stuff I'm still clueless. I'm talking about memory timings... My memory: MUSHKIN 3x2GB HP3-12800 DDR3 3x2GB 1600MHz. My motherboard: GA-EX58-UD4. Timings in BIOS are on auto and they are (I think) 10-11-11-28 (see first picture). As far as I know those are pretty bad. Now.. I can manualy insert numbers for timings but I suspect I can't just enter 9-9-9-24 or can I?

Are timings connected to voltages, multipliers, nothing, anything? I'd really appreciate any help at all.

Go into the bios and type in whatever is on the stickers for your dimms, and set the volts to 1.65... those timings cpu-z is showing are for 1.5v

you can do better ....focus ! we are talking about mushkin! look at my timings even @ 4.66ghz on my I7 920 @ 1328mhz 6-6-6-16 and I run then at 1336mhz 6-6-6-18 @ 3.5ghz everyday use NO BSOD! ever!

The thing is I still don't understand the theory behing timings.. I have no idea if timings are connected to voltages, frequency or what. That's why I didn't want to touch those numbers.
So, you run 6-6-6-18 @ 3.5 ... just a few things.. what are your voltages? What's your cooling?
I'm a FSX nut so every little number makes a difference, if I could run it at these timings it would be more than great

first let me say I can get these timings @ 1.65v but please realize these are rated timings for my memory because they are 1333mhz and they are 1gb sticks this is why I went with 6x1gb=6gigs instead of 3x2=6gigs because you can run tighter settings, but you should have no problems getting your stock timings at 1.65v and tighter than that if you run then under 1600mhz maybe try 1400mhz I have had mine stable at 6-6-6-18@ 1400mhz@1.65v memtested stable

besides 12gb is a total waste IMO and I do this for a living and would never sell a PC with more than it really needed and even 6gb of memory is overkill on a 64bit OS which has never used more than 2gb of memory for anything!

well my voltages are all on auto when I'm not benching @ 4.66ghz and memory is always manual@ 1.65v and I have well you could say a little bit of cooling.....as see here....

So 6-6-6-18 are actualy your stock timings? Well.. mine are 9-9-9-24 which I'm running now. I highly doubt I could run at 6-6-6-18...

They tried to overclock the frequency but there's nothing about timings... again Here...

If I raise timingst from 9-9-9-24 (this last number, 24, is it dependant on the numbers before, 9-9-9, or is it whatever?) to 8-8-8-? or even 7-7-7-? do I have to raise voltages too for stability or there is no connection between those two or do I have to raise something else?

@4GHz my max temps are around 75°C so I'm happy with 4.

try this stay at 4ghz 20x 200? then change memory mulitiplier to x3 which will give you 1200Mhz memory then set memory to auto timings and reboot then go in and set just the first timings in the timings to 7-7-7-18 and reboot and see if that doesn't work for you.

I would reboot and check setting in my bios to make sure because I haven't been in there in awhile but I'm in the middle of uploading games onto a modded xbox with 750gb sata drive so no reboots at this moment.....but I will get back too you later if you are still have problems.

If you keep 1,30V Core Voltage you can go up to 1,75V for your RAM.
May ths will bring a more stable Signal and possible even lower stable Ram Timings.

But please check the Temperatures and the max Voltage for your ram modules.
My old Mushkin Rams could take 1,8V and 1600 MHz.
