Question IBM x3650 m4 Worth Buying?

Hi everyone, right now im searching a used server for an hypervisor and probably some random projects, i stumble across this on marketplace and the seller says that the server refused to turn on because one of the power supply refused to work, As far as i know i think its possible to run the server with only one psu, so is this server worth buying?, the seller didn't say anything about the cpu but the ram was 48GB.

Unless they can prove that the server will turn on with one PSU i would not touch it, there could be bigger underlying issues with it. Looks like you can pick up a PSU off of ebay for around 20-30 bucks. Tell them to buy one and make sure it boots, then offer the $100 plus the cost of the PSU.

Heck there are tons of cheap servers on Ebay and even Amazon now. I just picked up a dell Poweredge R730xd with dual E5-2690v4 with 384GB of ram off amazon and comes with a 1 year warranty.

I havent run a IBM server before, but i do have HP and dells. They can run off 1 PSU with the other one for redundancy, you can actually pull one PSU out and replace it while the server runs off the other one.

For work i have one PSU plugged into a battery backup and the other PSU into a different battery backup. Each of those are plugged into separate outlets that are on different legs on the power panel.



I also googled this LINK which says you can run the server off one PSU and you can order an optional power supply for redundancy. So i would say hes BS'ing you
