IDE mode?

Ok, so I finally built my first gaming PC, and when I tried to install Windows, it would hang on the loading screen. I found out that switching the hdds to IDE mode on the mobo (an ASUS p8z68 PRO GEN/3) seemed to fix the problem. My question is, will going to IDE mode slow down my PC? I have an SSD hooked up to the SATA 6/GBs and I want to know if I lost any speed over it. Thanks.

^+1 Good point, maybe need to load third party SATA drivers!

Depending on your OS, you will lose the trim function that helps maintain your SSD's performance level. It's best to use AHCI on SSD's.

ITS Windows 7. Ok, I will see what my mobo disk has.

*sigh* I really need help on this one guys. Its an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN/3. I am using the SATA III ports for the SSD containing Windows. If anyone knows how to do the install after the OS is installed, please help me. Thanks.

This is the only way I know of to switch from IDE to AHCI after windows is installed. It only works for vista and 7.
