An i7 (4th or 3rd gen), coupled with 16GB of RAM, one or more large SSDs, and dedicated sound card(s).

Those are probably the most vital components. The i7 isn't necessary, but if you had no budget limits the upgrade would be worth it.

Xeon are server-class CPUs, they're not fit for regular usage. The i7 would have better performance for what you're trying to achieve.
