I've recently bought an rx 470 vga and it has 2xDVI-D, 1xHDMI and 1xDP output.
I have 2 monitors none of them is great but they was fine for me. Unfortunately my oldest screen have only VGA input, I did try with DP-VGA adapter, but the screen gave me "no signal" message
eight after windows logon. The other screen have HDMI and I'm using that as my 1st one.

My question: Is it possible to use the on-board VGA output while my dedicated card does the job ?
Using the on board HDMI as well for TV (it can be unplugged / unused while gaming only need when watching movies and stuff)

If I just put a game there it gave me lower framerates. ( SHIFT+WIN+ <- / -> )
If it's not possible is it enough if I use like 256mb dedicated memory for it ? That's what I'm using for years now.

It's already giving bad perofrmance on main screen if only watching 720p video on YT. So i guess it's not gonna work :/
Perhaps it's time to invest into a new monitor.

Actually passthrough is how it usually works. All gpu acceleration is done on the main gpu. The monitor connected to the dgpu needs to be set as main display in windows. This is probably just a case of driver issues. You can always see it in gpu usage. The igpu will go up from bus usage but you will see the dgpu still being used.

Was the dp to vga adapter active? There are some passive ones out there which won't work on pcs.

It was the cheapest one I could get. So probably a passive one.
Buyign a normal one looks like cost more than buying a used monitor with dp / dvi-d 😀

The screen gave me no signal message only after the windows booted up. Everything was working before that (bios, and windows logo during boot).
I tried a few thing like "detect" unplug and plug in again didn't work for both screens.

Wonder how I can find out what can be wrong. Normally if I connect any device to the onboard or my previous vga windows automatically detected the screen an I was able to set up as extension or clone. This time if I plug in the DB-VGA screen after boot I hear the sound when a device is connected but I have no options available. "Detect" can't find the device either. It works in any output of the IGP tho.
