iu want to get a new monitor and i had a couple in mind but after seeing these posts i am confused on which ones to get. I read a little bit more about monitors and went to go see one i had in mind (hitachi cm721) at best buy and it wasn't that good quality. Maybe someone can help me out and reccommend a good quality 19" flat screen monitor that is around 300 bucks

THANKS

I have the Samsung 955DF flat screen and don't have any problems with it.

The Flatron 915FT+ list for $315 at Techonweb.com You have S&H ($41 for Techonweb) for whatever you buy on the web or taxes if you buy local. So for 15 more dollars why not buy the best value you can. The Flatron specs are much better than the CM721 and the reviews both here and by the professionals are excellent. I just ordered one myself today. If it turns out to be a dud you can bet I will report back and let everyone know.

actually...the monitor i saw today was a samsung955DF (i said hitachi before...must have been thinking something else)
anyway...it didn't look that good compared to a viewsonic nexct to it...but i dont know why...maybe it was a store model or dusty on screen...what is the dot pitch on the samsung because i have seen places that say it is from .20 to .25

I buy all my stuff in delaware so i dont pay tax

THANKS

The samsung spec for 955DF says 0.20mm HORIZONTAL. That is not the usual way of measureing dot pitch but some vendors do it that way because of the new matrix systems. A 0.20 Horizontal translates to a 0.25 regular dot pitch http://www.lowendmac.com/tech/dotpitch.shtml. The Samsung 955DF is a nice low cost monitor, but I prefer the better quality (on paper anyway) of the Flatron 915FT+.

The spec for Samsung 955DF says 0.20 horizontal. You can see for yourself at the following site http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1043290788.1004964509@@@@&BV_EngineID=hadccggifdefbedjcfcffcggk.0&prod_id=955df
To find these things for yourself first go to http://www.pricewatch.com then click on the manufacturer name, then the web address of the manufacturer at the top part of the pricewatch site. Hang in there, we all have to struggle at first. After a little bit of practice it will get easier to find these things and ANYTHING else you want to know.
