I have a cable connection and was wondering if it was possible to tweak or somehow decrease my ping rates/lag in games....I have heard this is possible ....I have already changed my TCP registry setting I think it's called.

you never mention how bad your pings are and what your expectations are.

well lemme see guess there usually around 200ish during the day and in the evening avg about 150 but it varies somewhat of course.Expectations ...not sure... better is good I guess...I know these are probably normal pings but is it possible to impove these rates with tweaks etc?

It is possible to tweak the IP stack to improve performance by changing the MTU value in the registery, but first and for most, the NIC and the gateway/router can also effect the performance. We need to know more about your setup and configuration before we can make a good suggestions.

go to DSL reports run the tweak test from the tools section on the left side of the page, look at the recommendations it gives and then download DrTPC ( it's free) to set up your MTU's acks etc etc for your nic card then re run the tweak test ( ping numbers are part of the results) and repeat as needed until you are satisfied .. a little tip sometimes by slightly lowering the mtu's from the max ( 1500 for a normal connection not ppoe or rasppoe) you can reduce latency ( ping) at the cost of a little download speed ... luck
