Is it bad that I recognize most of those Dell Cases. Of course, I haven't worked on ones that are that bad, but still. I'm glad I don't really fix peoples computers on the side anymore. You say, "oh yeah, it's only gonna cost that much for a RAM upgrade", and then you open it up and you say "OMGWTF".

I've seen lots of really dirty computers like #7 8 and 9.
I think the winner here is 34!

Some of the dirtiest computers I've ever seen come from the back offices of fast food resturants. The computers never get replaced or cleaned and since grease is in the air the dirt/dust was like this thick guie mud/dust. Some of them were crazy grose. But the place I worked had this spray that would melt off all the dust and make it shine like it was new. (pretty amazing stuff)

Tom's needs to put their pictures in some kinda of javascript rotator because when you click on next/previous, it refreshes the whole page, which is kinda annoying.

These are nothing I had a friend that had 4 dogs and a cat and a house full of smokers the computer literally had 2 inches thick of hair and dust on everything. Amazingly it still mostly worked after years of being on the video card finally blew a few caps.

I got an old post here somewhere with many of those pictures..... left out the classy ones with the mice .... here's the link

LuLz, reminds me of a friends pc a couple years back... poor guy kept having "heat problems" was asking for reccomendations for coolers, fans, ect, so said i'd take a look & see what would be suitable. poor pc looked like the inside of a vacuum cleaner!

good god almighty! you can't blame this on smoke or pets...this is just downright neglect, either out of ignorance or apathy. i smoke and have a shedding puppy dog, but my pc is clean. i have a haf x case and blow it out once a week.

I don't get it. I mean, seriously. I've lived in a house with 9 cats that was poorly cleaned and STILL never had even a tiny fraction of this much dust. And it's not like I opened up my computer every few days to clean it! Where does this much dust come from? And how can people live in these houses? I just can't imagine this... and I've seen it! I've worked on computers that were dirty like this! I just.. I don't know how!

Wow... I thought I let my PC's get dirty, but they look like Hospital ER rooms compared to these pictures.

I think I'm going to be sick lol.

Though the wiring job on pic 1/40 top left shot, looks like what I did with my 2nd build.. (Yeah I wasn't very good at putting computers together back then.)

PC's on the floor inside warehouses that leave their overhead doors open all day are the worst. I used to clean these at my old job and they were truly awe-inspiring in their filth. I used a huge industrial air compressor to blow them out into the gravel parking lot out back and invariably ended up covered in the dust. Had to then turn the (air) hose on myself!

I used to be a computer tech for a forest products company. One of their PCs was on the production floor of one of their fiberboard plants. I literally rolled the dust/wood-fiber off the motherboard like a carpet.

"Well now, there's your problem..."

Wow, people take pictures of this stuff! I had a comp one time from an equipment rental place that I wouldn't work on until they blew out the case with an air compressor. I thought that there was at least one dead mouse in there, but it turned out to be all dust. The thing was still running and the problem turned out to be software. Those old 486's were tough.

I gutted and rebuilt my mechanic's dead desktop PC and the inside smelled like the engine bay of an old car. Way better than the wet dog smell you sometimes get.

After a good interior cleaning, I put all new modern fast parts inside and left the outside of the case as is (greasy and dusty and dented). He didn't want anyone to pay it any attention and now his Quickbooks loads in 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes.

Classics, for sure, but I opened a box once that was a dust bunny. Just one, that filled the unit. The owners kept it on the floor, fairly close to a door to outside, where their three golden labs would do the more frantic of the "master's home" jumping & getting scritched, plus the dogs would expect scritches while their hoomans were using the computer, inches away...

On the floor under your desk, where your feet kick up dust constantly, is NOT the "best place, out of the way & protected" it seems.

I worked at a CompUSA and the techies got a computer full of dust, dog hair and ticks. *puke*
