I have looked all over, read through forum thread after forum thread and i cannot fix my problem.
When i try to start Windows i get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

-i CANNOT boot in safe mode. I have tried
-Restore points cannot be found
-I am unable to get a reset
-using Rufus, i have made a USB drive but no repairs can be made.
-i have played with boot order after boot order. I cannot get anything other than the USB and windows repair to start.
-Diskpart wont do anything with MBR drives (whatever that means)
-chkdsk /f wont work because of write protection
-chkdsk /f of drive C: scans but comes up with nothing other than a failed log transfer
-Bootrec cannot find windows
-There is a new X: drive that has been created. It seems like windows is trying to boot using this new X drive, but then cannot find the OS which is on my C drive
-My C drive is a SSD. i have unplugged all other drives, internal and external, this helped none
- i have read about setting up BIOS to make sure AHCI is set on my SSD, but i cannot find an option for that anywhere.

The above were solutions i found on the internet, i am not that computer savvy.

If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE, let me know. School is starting up soon and i need my PC badly.

This is an Alienware Area 51 (so it has its own fancy looking BIOS)
running Windows 10 on a solid-state drive.
i accidently defragged the drive, i think that is what caused this.
before i restarted, explorer was acting funny (wouldnt show thumbnails, open pictures, crashes)
and now i cant start windows.

Seems to me like i need to stop my computer from booting from this new X drive some how.

I have also posted in the tenforums, i got a little help, but then it kind of dead end'd

Thanks in advance.

BCDEDIT /ENUM shows two boot managers. The second one looks correct. The first one must be drive x: or something

UPDATE: Now i am getting an error code 0x0000001. in addition the original error. hopefully this is going in the right direction

i am unable to even reinstall windows, so any input would be awesome. anything at all.

Inaccessible boot device , had a problem like that a few weeks ago , the thing that boots up the windows and loads every file is the Hard Disk , basically theres something wrong with the connection of it , maybe it got disconnected or something or maybe the Hard Disk is bad and needs to be replaced , thats the only thing i can think of and thats how i fixed my problem. I recommend opening up your computer and checking the hard disk connection if its stable and everything is connected , dont run to buy a new hard disk because im not even sure it needs replacement (or if that is the problem at all) please wait for other answers too.

I hope you will fix it using those methods , if my solution nor those methods work im afraid i cant really help you in this case

UPDATE:

After some fiddling around using my Linux Mint LiveUSB, i may or may not have made headway; but a lot has changed.

bootrec now finds an OS and asks to add it to boot list, but the volume doesn't contain a recognized file system
DISKPART now shows disk 0 and disk 1 as IDENTICAL. FURTHERMORE; i a. no longer have an EFI boot partition and b., each volume now has its own drive letter:
Code:
Vol 0 G RAW DVD-ROM
Vol 1 C OS NTFS
Vol 2 RAW
Vol 3 E WINRETOOLS NTFS
Vol 4 F Image NTFS
Vol 5 D ESD-USB FAT32

i found instructions that "hopefully" creates an EFI Partition using DISKPART, but now i don't know which Drive to do this on. 0 or 1?

c:\windows\system32\bcdboot c:\windows gives me a failure when attempting to copy boot files message

I just had the same problem on my computer. I have the following disk setup:
Drive 0: SSD boot - C:
Drive 1/2: Raid/Stripe - D:
Drive 3/4: Raid/Stripe - E:

I tried several times to reboot, enter safe mode, enter BIOS etc but got the same error message INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. While booting I received a Windows message saying the "Update was unsuccessful. Removing update" ... or something like that.

I also tried to boot the PC in safe mode but I was still not able to access drive D: It was listed in explorer but when I tried to view the files I got an access denied error and was asked if I wanted to format the drive. I checked Disk Management and saw that all the drives were listed.

I then rebooted the machine again and entered BIOS. I then discovered that the disk-controller had been reset to IDE - while it should have been a RAID. I have no explanation for this as noone has changed this manually. I'm not sure if it's possible but I suspect one of the latest Windows 10 updates have screwed up my PC somehow.

I changed the setting to RAID and restarted the machine. I was again put into the Windows repair menu and chose to restore to a previous restore point (August 1st). After restore had completed my computer again booted up normally and all my drives showed up as they should.

I don't know why this happened or what actually fixed the problem. I hope I have a permanent fix for it now but I'm not sure if it'll help anybody else. Just some tips...
