Infrared Code Changing?

I've got a generic Hdmi switch because my TV only has one Hdmi port. The remote that comes with it has a short range, I usually have to get up and get closer for it to actually work, which kind of defeats the point. I've tried to use my phone to learn the remote, which works for normal remotes but for this one the code keeps changing and wont work with the device. Any advice?

Is this from pressing the same button 3 times? What does the remote look like? Is like input 1,2,3,4 or just a cycle button that changes to the next input. If it's a cycle button, might be why it's changing, I dunno.

Yeah it's from pressing the same button, it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Pressing 1 changes to whatever is plugged into slot 1, etc.

If you try to learn the 1 or 2 or 3, does it show a different code each time?

Yeah. The 3 screenshots are from pressing 1 at different times, I don't understand why it changes.
Consequently my phone doesn't work with the switcher, but the remote will.
