Install problems XP SP2

I have a question about Win XP SP2........I have tried several times to
install it on my wife's and my daughter's computers and neither one will
*accept* it.......they are both DELL 2350's with Win XP Home.......

The whole install thing goes about half way through and then stops with a
little window message that says *Access denied* Then it has to go
backwards to uninstall everything it has already done.......it is
maddening......

Any ideas?

Thanks

John;
First check for viruses and spyware.
Otherwise some running application is probably interfering.
Follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist:

John, are you logged in as administrator when trying the install?

No. Didn't think I needed to do, as I've installed it a several times
without any problems.

And none of those time was I logged on as admin.

The only difference is this time I used a download version off the MS
critical update
web site, all the other times I was using the SP2 CD.

I doubt that, John. While you may not have been logged on as
Administrator, in any successful install of XP or any XP
update/Service Pack you certainly were logged in as a user with
administrator privileges. That has been true for NT products
since at least NT4 SP[damfiremember] days.

As was suggested, you need to be logged to a profile with Administrator
access.
If you have problems of any kind, try another profile with Administrator
access.
Otherwise see my other post.
