I am the master profile on my computer and when I try to install programs i
get an error message saying I dont have the rights. How is this possible?

What is a "master profile?" I've never before heard the term associated
with a Microsoft operating system.

Are you logging in using an account with administrative privileges?
Such an account is necessary for the installation of properly designed
applications.
