installed a slave h/d

i have just installed a slave 120g (maxtor)h/d and when booted up xp
reconises it
but when checking the pie chart it only sees it as a 32g how do i
change the settings so it can see it as a 120g (am very new at this and
this is my 1st time at upgrading)

Have you checked the jumpers on the drive to be sure that the cylinder
limitation jumper is not installed to limit the drive size to 32 GB?
Also does the BIOS show the proper size and are you using the 80 wire
IDE cable that came with the drive?

Or it was formated as FAT32 in XP. XP will only create a 32GB FAT32 drive,
but can access any size FAT32 drive. You may want to redo the drive as
NTFS.

The convert command [if input properly] will convert FAT or FAT32 file
systems to NTFS. To see the help file, Start/Run [or: Start/All
Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt]/type "convert /?" [less quote
markers AND be certain a space precedes the slash.
