Installing DS3 PLEASE HELP

Hi all this is my first build and I have no idea what i've done wrong, i have installed the CPU, HSF and RAM, I have also connected the PSU to the MB and the case fans etc...

The system wont start up there's no sign of life at all nothing not even the brand new PSU is turning on.

Perhaps this could be because of the F_panel pins i have no idea where these go the case wire names are PWR SW, H.D.D. LED and RESET. SW. I have found the F_panel on the board but there's nothing in the manual to tell me how to connect them to this DS3 MB i'm completely lost and i'm starting to wish i had bought it built :S

If the PSU isnt turning on could it be dead? LOST! 🙁

Yeah, make sure you plug the F_panels pins correctly or your power switch, reset button and you LED won't work and the also the speaker to see if there are beeps.

More worried about where the connectors go in to the F_Panel its annoying that they do not clearly state where they go for us newbs.

yeah read the instruction how to plug those in it has an arrow on the plugs where you have to jack it in. just takes alittle time knowing it.

First off. make sure the little switch on the back of your psu is flipped to on 😛

Your MB manual should tell you in detail what goes where as far as connecting the mb to the case. Just takes a bit of digging.

I had the same problem last week when I did my build. The problem seemed to be the Front End panel connections or the MB to PSU hook up.

Make sure that your F panel connectors are all correct. You may need to turn them to get the polarity right. Also, make sure that you connect all 24pins on the MB as well as the 4pin ATX 12V pin.

Just for future reference, once you get everything going, don't be panicked if you see the CPU fan not spinning. In some infinite wisdom of theirs, Gigabyte decided to turn the fan on only when the CPU gets to a certain temperature. There might be something in the BIOS to set this right, but I haven't found it yet. You might see the fan not spin for a short while, then start spinning and stopping for a second for about a few minutes before it just takes off and stays on. You may want to turn the CPU fan warning off in the BIOS otherwise it will drive you nuts.

here is a dumb question. does anything work on the circuit you are plugged into? maybe there isnt any power. the front connector is at the bottom of the board and you have to hook up the little plugs. there is a picture in your manual and the little plugs are labeled.

Thanks for the info! To answer the other questions, yes the wall socket works I know where the F_Panel is and also where the case connectors are to it but I do not know in which sequence they're plugged in to the F_Panel would one of you be so kind as to look for me? For instance, PWR SW -> PW / RESET SW -> ?? / H.D.D. LED -> ??

As far as mapping the connectors, its on page 23 of the manual ( just built a system using the ds3 ) They are color coordinated, blue for the HD activity light, amber for the case speaker, green for the reset button, red is for the power button, yellow is the messege led. There is a little black cross on the pins for the + side of the connector. Just match them up with the case connectors, if it doesnt work flip them around.

Like Chyort posted, make sure your PSU is flipped on, I forgot about it and got worried for about 10 minutes 😳 Is your power supply connected to the mother board all the way (does the little latch snap on?) Same for the processor power? Is your surge protector on? Just tossing out ideas in case its one of those! Good luck! Post back if any progress.

its all up and running got the connectors in the right place and im typing on it now (Vista) so fingers crossed!

page 22-23 explains the f panel layout dont worry if you get it wrong the first time you will not harm the board, it's very low voltage.

also, make sure your PS is set to the correct voltage for your country... i cant tell you how many times i have spent an hour putting together a system, i plug it in then cuss up a storm cus it wont power on, then i remember the little red switch in the back
