installing HD on A7V-133 with promise controller

i would like to install a 3rd HD on my asus A7V-133:
as of now i have:
20gig maxtor on reg IDE as master
30 gig maxtor on reg IDE as slave

i want to put a 60 gig maxtor on the primary ATA 100 as a master for storage only

can't seem to get a straight answer on the install procedure....
i tried my maxtor install disk..but the HD is not seen on the ATA 100.. so i put in on reg IDE and partioned..disconnected 60 gig ..reconnected 20gig back to reg IDE master..connected 60gig to ATA100 IDE..NOTHING..my drive letters are messed up and no drive..
one pertion on current fixed drive 1 is gone..my head is rattling..
been trying to get ASUS for 2 days now!!!!!
ANYONE some input PLEASE!!!!

Here is what I suggest. Format the hard drive on the regular IDE controllers. Then put the drive on the ATA100 controller. You will have to install the latest promise drivers to get this working though. You might also have to enable those ATA100 contollers in the BIOS. I can't remember if I had to. Check just in case so that they aren't disabled.

Since I'm running on a 1 HD system I don't know if this will work, but try installing the promise drivers first and then try to format on the ATA100 controller. Odds are that you just don't have the drivers installed.
