I'm in the process of installing a new motherboard (as in right now, so respond quickly please!!) Anyway, I have the processor in correctly but I havn't put the heatsink on. There is some yellow stuff on the top of the processor and the bottom of the heatsink, do I remove this and apply Thermal compound before placing the heatsink on? I'm lost and searching the net for answers...please help. thanks

You understand the silverwear...cuckoo cuckoo

I'd dare say that the yellow stuff is the thermal compound that was previously used. You could probably get away with just using that stuff, but a true professional would clean it off well and good and apply a new layer of thermal paste once the cleansing agent has completely dried.
