installing in a compaq

i just received a used cd burner and i havent a clue how to install it into my compaq. i have the ide cable and the audio cable but it came without instructions. any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Does the compaq have a 5 1/2 bay unused?

youcan't realy mess any thing up
i put a cd burner in my compaq and had no problem

the only thing is that you proabbly only have input for a audio line so your going to have to chosse which cd rom you want to hook up to the input. if you don't have enough slot s then your of course take the other one out. then you have to set the cd burner to master. i'm gussing the person you got it form prabollay had it set as a slave. if you need change the settings just go to the manufactures website and can prablly find out how to set the master slave seting

Don't give such a blind advice, as you don't know the components of the compaq or hove they have been set up.

i thought of one more thing i forgot to say if there is only room for one ide cable and that one cable goes to the harddrive then the cdbrunner is going to be the slave again
