I bought two M.2 SSD Samsung Pro 2280. One is for OS and Applications and the other one is to store sensitive and important files.

My motherboard supports installation of two M.2 SSDs. One can be installed under the heatsink on the front of motherboard while the other one can be installed in the back of the motherboard without heatsink.

It's my first time using M.2 SSD and I wanted to know if I should install the one with OS and applications under the heatsink(front of motherboard) since it will be the one that will do more work compared to the second one for storing sensitive and important data.

Data in the 2nd SSD are very important but it will mostly be used for storing files. But I cannot afford to lose data in the 2nd SSD.

Your advice and inputs will be greatly appreciated!

What data goes on which m.2 port depends on your motherboard.
If both ports are the exact same specs, it doesn't matter.

And as mentioned above.."cannot afford to lose data " = multiple levels of backup.Automated and tested.
For any type storage device.
