Hello, I'm looking to install two copies of Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth II and it's expansion. I own two copies of the game from a while a back and both copies have different serial keys.

I've tried installing one copy(used one serial key) then renaming the directory and installing a second copy(used other serial key). After that I rename the first copy of the game back to it's original name.

I have a program called SoftXpand that let's me run two workstations so that two people can use the same computer while using different user accounts. I also use Sandboxie to run the second copy of the game because Windows only allows one copy to be running at one time.

After I get both copies up and running on their respective workstations I'm unable to join a multiplayer game over LAN because the game says that the serial key is already in use. Is it possible that the original key is overwritten during the installation of the second copy? Is there anyway to install two copies of the game while both use different serial keys? Is there a way I could edit the registry to allow for both copies to use different keys even though they're the same game?

Solution
These games, with all their copy protections, are not going to allow 2 copies on the same computer. I think that while you came up with some innovative work arounds, ultimately it will not be functional for this.
