I looked at their website and my spidey sense started tingling so I did some research and thats what I found out

I hope it works out, I have a backorder with Tigerdirect going on for a month at a cheaper price so i'm sticking with that.

$633.51 including shipping isn't much extra to pay to get it a faster in my opinion. Your budget can't be too tight if you your building a LGA 2011 system as is :)

No it isn't, but like I said I already have it on backorder with another company. I've waited this long I could wait a little longer

Any new updates as to when the new stock is going to arrive?

My status still says in progress and I haven't gotten an invoice, I'd be pissed if they are shipping out new orders without fulfilling mine. I sent them an email a few days ago when they said they had 10 in stock asking when I might be expecting mine to be shipped, but they never replied back to me. Are you certain they shipped yours? If they did then I'm definitely going to be calling them and demanding that they ship mine.

Well, the one I ordered from Provantage said it's completed and shipped from their distributor but when I got home last night it wasn't here. Needless to say I'm a bit unhappy -- I paid for next day shipping. I'm going to call them in a few minutes to raise some hell.

Definitely, I'm calling them today too, tell me what they say, we'll see if we get the same information

I've been waiting since January 4 for a new computer I ordered, but I'm stuck in limbo waiting for the 3930k just like the rest of you. Words can not express how much waiting sucks. What makes it worse is Intel hasn't, as far as I can tell, issued any press release or notices to inform the public about when it can expect the chips to become available. Waiting and waiting... with no idea of how long you're gonna be waiting... really really sucks. It makes me want to scream and drive my fist through the wall. Although I wouldn't think of buying a non-Intel CPU, I'm very disapppointed with the way Intel has mismanaged this issue. Intel, where are you???

Spend some time every day checking stock on websites. I did this for a week or two and snagged one in time.

They will start to "trickle" in, just like what was stated here, so make sure you don't miss a trickle near you!

Well I'm really thinking of cancelling my order with Provantage and ordering from someone else. I called them and they told me they were expecting a shipment on February 24th, then I asked if they were sure that they hadn't gotten any recently and was told they definitely had not. I told them that I knew of someone that ordered from them a couple days ago and had been told their order came in this morning and is shipped, and the person told me that the person I knew must not have ordered from Provantage or had grabbed the last one, which makes no sense since I ordered two weeks ago. They then told me that the distributor they are receiving their shipment from next month shows they are back ordered with around 1900 back orders right now.

I started thinking that maybe I'm back ordered for the C1 stepping and the C2 stepping is an entirely different product, which would be a huge error in their system since the C1 stepping isn't ever coming back. But of course the customer service lady that sounded half asleep didn't know anything about products or numbers and didn't want to check.

Let us know if you really do get yours on Monday, if you do I'm gonna cancel and try to snag one when they come in stock from another place.

The 2 chips, although different, have the same product code, which is what most retailers look at.

Product Code BX80619I73930K
S-Spec SR0H9
MM# 918750
Stepping C-1

Or

Product Code BX80619I73930K
S-Spec SR0KY
MM# 919887
Stepping C-2

The MM# and S-Spec is what changes between the two CPUs. I doubt that they would put you on hold for C1, because most retailers won't see the difference. You have to understand that the customer support for these companies is not made up by enthusiasts.

Best of luck in your search! Remember to look at the sites that do not offer back orders often.

I purchased my ibuypower pc january 11 with the 3930k as well, only after calling on the 24th about where it is to be told intel has a shortage and id need to call at the end of the month. I looked up the intel supply issue and it looks as though there is an issue in the c1 stepping in the 1st generation 3930k which causes virtual machine crashes. They are allowing the stock to dry up and releasing the new 3930k at the end og the month with c2 stepping like xeon processors. Thats a good thing.

Well, just to muddy the waters.... This is what's on Intel's website which would lead one to believe that any Boxed CPU you get is still a C1.

Code:
Ordering and Spec Information
Intel® Core™ i7-3930K Processor (12M Cache, 3.20 GHz) FC-LGA10, Tray
Socket Step Step TDP Ordering Code Spec Code VT-x RCP
FCLGA2011 C2 130 W CM8061901100802 SR0KY Yes $583
FCLGA2011 C1 130 W CM8061901100802 SR0H9 Yes $583

Boxed Intel® Core™ i7-3930K Processor (12M Cache, 3.20 GHz) FC-LGA10

My post was a quote from the revision release that intel put out. I don't have the PDF at work, but I assure you it was copy pasted :)

EDIT: I found the link! As you can see, the product codes are identical, the other information is what changed. Retailers don't look at boxes.

Ok, that PDF was much more complete than the table on the web page, which did not list the boxed product at C2. Also, the web page for the 3960X doesn't list anything about C2 stepping, but the PDF makes it clear that it's getting C2 as well. Thanks!

I read the document and took the last bit of info at the bottom to mean that boxed and installed cpu's will have c2 stepping, though some customers may still receive procs with c1 architecture if there is stock left. That said, there seems to be very limited stock anywhere. So, being that is just about February I'm betting on those of us waiting this long to get c2 stepping procs. This barely matters to most of us, but who want's a proc that's new but isn't the new version I suppose.

Well the C1 chip has left everyone with a GIGANTIC grin on their face, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

If you wanted VT-D, then sure, wait for C2, if not, C1 is a perfectly amazing product. I will update you to which I have.

Dude,

They are screwing with you. By the time I got home, I finally got a tracking number from UPS. So, it will be here on monday. And somehow I'm not surprised. When I called this am, I had to wait on hold for 15 mins or so. When I finally got a person, I gave her my order number and told her what my issue was and I then got disconnected. Now to their defense, the second person I spoke to did follow up and even sent me an email before she left saying she still had not gotten a tracking number. Then just as she was leaving she got the tracking number. Which, by then I had gotten an automated confirmation. I am suspecting that they outsource some of their calls. Like if a call is on hold for a certain amount of time it gets sent over seas.

Alright, well I'll call back until I get someone helpful, I did wait on hold for about 15 minutes, so you might be right.

That's how I found my chip. I couldn't sleep the other night and grabbed my android and went on the shopper app. That's where I found provantage.

really.... how many people are going to fork out at least 600 bucks on a cpu that will be outdated soon anyway...
