intel prices are low nowadays compared to ryzen. like 10850k is almost $150 cheaper than 5600x. I'm still using xeon 1245vs (i7-3770 class). been checking out CPU at online shopping sites for weeks, but my current cpu still always feels fast. makes me wonder, if there's anything I can spend on my current desktop without having to "upgrade" ? maybe an NVME drive ? but my motherboard doesn't support nvme boot
As long as you have a SATA III SSD, I wouldn't fret the board not being NVME supportive. I use both in numerous machines and don't feel much difference in everyday use. It's only when I benchmark them that I see the difference.

Until the microchip shortage is behind us, other covid-related shortages catch up, the Chinese tariffs that the last administration thought was a good idea is over, and the graphic card manufacturers can satisfy the cryptocurrency shoppers, prices are going to be too high to buy much of anything (IMO). I feel stupid buying a $600 card I could have bought for $250 a year ago.

sees 5600x beat it in everything here. (and after u buy cooler for 11600k ur at msrp price of 5600x anyways)

can someone tell me how they make 2 posts basically contradicting themselves?

You guys need help finding a Core I3 10100 and Core I3 10100f to test or what? :pBoth are at least fairly close to a Ryzen 3100 or 3300X and not near as elusive in the wild...;) I mean they have only been available for a YEAR guys.

By this logic why isn't the Core I3 10100 the best budget pick or entry level over the 3300X or 3200G? It's in stock at MSRP at multiple places and has at least comparable performance.

Would take everything with a grain of salt, but if you're building something budget for the future, I'd invest in a higher tier of CPU's. Currently running a gaming rig on I7 4790K, on the integrated graphics and can still average 100fps in DotA2.

I'm 58 years old....to be honest
,,, anything over 1440 or 60 fps is pretty much wasted on me.:0

I play World of Tanks, World of Warships, WOW, Hearthstone, Doom, Diablo, Elite Dangerous, all of the Silent Hunter series and various others when they pique my interest...So far this little $90 cpu tears them to shreds at well over 100 fps.... I'll take that with a grain of salt...lol

btw currently in the game room with me...Q6600 at 3.6 ghz with 2 660 in SLI. AMD 6350 at 4.5 ghz with 970, AMD 6300 at 4.3 ghz with 780 TI, and a BE 965 at 4.0 ghz with a 1060. 3 of the cpus are lapped and running heater cores as rads......but, thanks for the input, now days most people don't even try to help. keep on , it's how I learned.

Sitting at 41 years of age here :)

Got a Ryzen 7 5800x with a 970, a G4600 running on integrated and the I7 4790K running on integrated, I was surprised how well the integrated held up. Overwatch, Diablo 3, Counterstrike, Sonic Allstars Racing, Assassins Creed, all working just fine. I guess the younger generations just want to spend to be flashy :)

I have an i5-3570. I have previously been told that an upgrade to (for example) an i7-8700K would see a significant improvement and would be well worth the investment. This article seems to say the exact opposite.

I presently have a 1920x1080 monitor and GTX960 GPU. My system is used for general office applications, surfing and limited gaming (WoW, with an intention to switch to Elite: Dangerous shortly).

Considering the power and cooling requirements and what you use your machine for, you’d encounter much better results from say a 5600G/5700G from AMD. And that one has integrated video twice as fast as Intel in case your nvidia dies.

Considering they posted that almost two-and-a-half years ago, in January of 2019, I imagine they might have already made up their decision by this point. : 3

In what world is a i7 2600k lower tier than a Ryzen 3 1200?
It may be based on the fact the i72600k is old and may be missing instruction sets for modern games and programs that will slow performance when it has to brute force it. Kind of like older games from the nineties would run on CPU alone but if you gave them a graphics accelerator it would have a higher frame and polygon count.

Anybody can explain what is "(Geomean) entire test suite?"
Also, is it correct to use PBO for AMD and manual overclocking for Intel?

I also do not see any mention about RAM, if it is also OCed or not.

I know this is a massive test suite, so I am not asking for additional testing with all those variables, but Id like to know those variables. Other way, one would be forgiven for seeing this test as biased.

Since when has it EVER been normal practice in the CPU Hierarchy list to include overclocked CPU's in the heirachy list ?

I will tell you when, NEVER !

It has only appeared only since AMD are faster, and Intel is 2nd best ! This is just Rediculous! So typical ! Big Business Total Bias !

Must be sponsored by Intel ! What else can you say ! Its A Joke ! :(

Guru7of9 is dead on above.....If you take out any overclock scores AMD is holding the top 4 slots in 1080, 1440, Multi thread, and still is number one on single thread. The closest Intel is 11700k and the 5600x is topping it in every chart but single thread. For about $100 less btw!! :p

Its normal in here, but they have just updated it for Alderlake. They are so hanging to get Intel back at the top as fast as they can !
Wonder if they will persist with overclocked BS in the heirarchy ! If it helps Intel, it will for sure!

The update should have been done 12 months ago !

This jumble of graphs are too scrambled to make any sense of. Trying to use these graphs is kinda like trying to unscramble an egg.
