Hey so I got my intel core 2 quad q9400 i got it from ebay to replace my old intel pentium e5300 so i replace it myself i putted enough thermalpaste and put on the intel lga775 stock cooler and the cpu is in my opinion overheating bicause when doing basic task browsing the web the temp can get up to 90/95•C. Even the cpu that I had before e5300 was getting as hot as 90•C. Doest anyone know the problem?😃🙏 thanks for answering

Did you properly apply new thermal paste, to the CPU, before installing the heatsink? Are all 4 of the push pins, on the cooler, fully seated? You possibly need a better cooler also. Not all stock Intel coolers are the same.
Hey thanks for replying: So I putted amount of thermal paste as seen on youtube. I pushed all pins and the cooler is properly in place and its not losse. You said that maybe its a stock cooler. The cpu is cooler by 10yo intel stock cooler. Do u think that the cooler is a problem

And also the cooler was used like 6 hours per day for around 9years but last 1years was used around an 1 hour per day

An e5300 is a 65W chip and the Q9400 is a 95W. If you put the stock cooler back on that is part of the problem. Is this a SFF with limited cooling to begin with?
Hey thanks for replying: My pc is in an atx case and I used a stock cooler which was used for pentium e5300. But I don't have any fan for better air flow or cooling.

Is this system a prebuild, or a DIY?
Hey thanks for replying:
This Pc is prebuilt pc from around 2009 an first specs were:
Cpu: Intel pentium e5300
Mobo: Gigabyte ga p31 es 3g
Ram: 2gb
Gpu: Ati radeon hd 4650 1gb

Since then I upgraded the ram to 4gb and yesterday the processor with intel q9400. Everthing is powered by Lc-Power 550w psu and inside atx case.

From what I read above there's a short answer: you need a better cooler and, probably, paste.

That seems to be the problem with your swap.

Cheers!
Hey thanks for your opinion: I agree with you that a cooler is a problem because this cooler is intel stock cooler and was meant to be used for intel e5300 65tpd processor and not for q9400 95tpd processor. The termal paste I think its ok becaus I used coolermaster paste that I picked up in my local store around 2 months ago. For cooler what do you think its the best cooler for around 10 to 15$ for my intel q9400? 😃

Since it's an old socket, you may have problems trying to find cheap cooler that fit from Amazon and online. Do you have one of those computer stores near you that may have old CPU cooler on their shelves?

If not, you can buy something online like a Cooler Master TX2. I believe they still have support for LGA775: https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/CPU-Coolers-Phenom-Core2,review-30238-6.html

It's not bulky and should be really cheap nowadays.

Cheers!

The ones i found interesting are:

What about those:

Out of all those, this one seems to be the most trustworthy: DeepCool GAMMAXX 200T

They are all 2 heat pipe designs and it looks like they're all clip-in models, but the one I mention has the better fan and should be quiet.

Cheers!
Hey so I was watching videos on yt about cpu cooler and I was watching one for DeepCool Ice edge mini fs 2.0
View: https://youtu.be/mxJDHFayFKs
and the results were suprising for the coller that costs around 10$ what do you think?

The plastic frame on those stock coolers deforms over time and heat cycles. After a few years of use, they become unable to apply sufficient contact pressure to spread paste and squeeze the excess out. If you install it correctly, it'll be fine for 5+ years of constant use or until you accidentally nudge it and break the "bond" (mainly the vacuum left behind when you try to pull the highly viscous factory paste apart) that forms over time.
