Well, one thing I wanted to point out is, we can take the BIOS theory and toss it. There is no such BIOS as the one pointed out in the article. My new DFI board has the exact same BIOS as the one tested at IDF. Mine is dated 11-02-05.

Here's a pic to prove it ..

OH MY GOD MMM THOSE ARE FACTS OMFG OMFG OMFG FANBOY OMFG1111
Dude, seriously. Nobody had a hissy fit like you did, so even if you're right (haha, my ass), you're still acting like a douchebag. It's really ironic you would call anyone a troll when you write 20 replies with nothing but capslock.

Actually, Conroe, Apache_Lives, Action_Man, etc. all flamed with no end worse than me, so shove it fanboy.

Well, I am skeptical of the results as a whole, and was before I saw any of this, being that it is a Vendor sponsored benchmark.

For the Record, I really don't care who wins. It won't affect my buying one way or the other for a long time, since I make it a rule not to buy first generation releases.

Dude, I know you are not talking to me ....

LOL he can't even get his quotes right, lol.

I quoted Luminaris because it shows the BIOS was fine you tool. OBVIOUSLY it supports the overall idea of my post. If you want me to find a "droll" rant that you made I would be more than happy. In the meantime, why don't you go find some retarded blog where some random guy claims AMD will own Intel for all of eternity?

iv never seen an AMD fanboy more threatend then MadModMike, and you know Mikey, the first step is admiting you have a problem.

if you ask me conroe is where the Pentium 3 should have been today - P4 was the only Intel design that failed - The P1 was alright (K5 was too late) the P2 was quicker then the K6 and K6-2, and the P3 was quicker then the K6-3 and colder and equal to the K7 (altho intels were always a bit more expensive so amd was the better buy), then the P4 wilamette was uchh... too expensive, hot, got beat by the P3 tualatin etc, northwood equal'd the AMD AthlonXP (2000+ = 2ghz Intel) and the P4C was the last intel with a lead, then came prescott and so on - fails (so P4 northwood c was half decent).

"UT2004 and Half Life 2 were absent from our testing, simply because we didn’t have the time to get them installed, but the rest of the scores here should be indicative of the full impact of the BIOS update. In the media encoding tests we saw absolutely no performance impact other than a 1 second reduction in iTunes encoding time. F.E.AR. at 1024 x 768 saw a reasonable gain of 4%. Quake 4 remained virtually unchanged."
-Anandtech tests how much a BIOS effects performace; hardly at all.
They confirmed Cool'n'Quiet was off.
"The new BIOS also correctly identified the Athlon 64 FX-60 processor, although as you can see from the results above, the proper detection of the CPU didn’t translate into greater performance."
"The performance advantage of Conroe makes a lot more sense now, at 20% instead of 41%. With performance in Quake 4, UT2004 and HL2 in the 20 - 30% faster range on Conroe, the F.E.A.R. results now make a lot more sense."
So, the tests were re-run and Intel still came out on top. Maybe not 40%, but it's still a massive lead..and even what they claimed!

tsk tsk tsk did you forget something ak real men fight with fist and melee weapons not guns but fine i'll bring a homemade crossbow which i learned to make fromm my uncle hes a hunter and he knows how to make weapons out of trees 😀

I'm too lazy to do something like that. I do know how make bombs, but again, I'm too lazy. I should just be original and run you over =D

ohh you too lazy to make or own weapons no wonder why your an intel fanboy if say enough nice things about them on these forumz you hope that they'll wipe your ass!

Joking aside, I'm hoping to cool everyone down a bit.

Look, no one compared AM2 to Conroe, so we can't say who has the crown. It'll be close tho.

Then compare AM2 to the S939 FX-62 (FX-60 overclocked, as unlocked), then compare the AM2 to the Conroe.

TomsHardware has done this before, they don't rebench EVERY machine again as it just wastes time. You do have an Internet browser and MS Excel for graphs (or similar) installed right ?

You'll still come to the same conclusion:
- The pre-release Intel Conroe (at 1066 FSB, vs 1333 FSB and new MCH / chipset when it comes out) beats the pre-release AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 (Socket AM2, which will not perform that differently between chipsets as the DDR2 memory controller is integrated on the AM2 processor).

MCH = Memory Controller Hub, aka: Northbrdige:
