My point is this - the patent system has been corrupted and perverted.

Yep it sure is. take Oxycontin as a example.. Oxycodone is an old drug and very easy and cheap to make. However, mix it with talc (talcum powder) press the pills to unbelievable tons of presser.
And PRESTO,a new time released pill with a 7 year patent on it. Then inflate the price 100s of times of what it cost to make and laugh all the bank. America as been very very good to these shysters.

IBM has been down this road and lost in the court system. due to a time honored art
know as "reverse engineering" AMD is setting up Intel for a big sucker punch, as long as
they do not transfer any of Intels secrets to this new company. On paper any way.
If a few senior engineers got better job offers and happened to find themselves employed at said new company, well there are case laws to protect them as well; and they are not libel for what is in there heads.
So as long as AMD plays this out as it is now unfolding, keeps this new company at arms lenghts, turns a blind eye and acts dumb. This could be the high tec version of "Rope A Dope" With Intel biting the dust.
They will be spending millions going after a start up company (some place in China) with no money or assets pumping out millions of chips, just breaking even, so if and when Intel gets a favorable ruling they can't collect any way. It may be AMD taking a page from Microsoft not Intel.

One question that should be asked and really thought about is what will we the consumer do if Intel goes ahead with this.
Because we have as much or more to lose if Intel wins this, I at least remember when Intel was the only player and they were very expensive products.
Would every computer user be willing to go on a total intel boycott? Because it would take nothing less than a total commitment to have any effect on our future as computer users. If we could make Intel realize that they also have as much to loose and stop this strong arm garbage we may be able to come out with some form of win.
This should be thought about and acted upon and just stick with all current systems and also write your polictical leaders to stop a total monopoly from being made real by Intel.
AMD has done more for us than we could ever realize and they need everyone's support on this.
I think even if Intel knows they will loose this they may still gain any time they have lost in area's that AMD is starting to make larger inroads into.
Intel has done this before, AMD won a lawsuit but lost a war because Intel stopped them at every turn from gaining enough market share with then better cpu's which cost them needed R&D income to be able to continue to be a even marginal equal. It gave Intel all the time it needed and they made so much money that the loss of the lawsuit to AMD did nothing but hurt AMD in the long run.
Be that as it may I think the people that buy Intel products need to stop and really take a look at what future they are willing to live with and I know for certain that a Intel only one will not do anyone but Intel any good and may in the long run even hurt Intel which I hope in any case. They have never played by the rules of law because they have been able to make enough money to offset any legal fines or lawsuits.
The only thing that can really hurt them is for all users to just stop buying their products and sit on your current system.
Software developers will have to take this into account so you won't loose anything really as far as systems going obsolete until this matter is solved. Just think about it but be serious about it because there is way too much at stake.
