Magny Cours is clocked low while 32nm Beckton is clocked relatively high.

Raising the HT migh help but Istanbul already have models using HT3 and they fare no better.

Higher clocks doesn't mean higher IPC.

Power consumption might be better though.

Now imagine *all* of that happens with Thuban and you're getting warmer.

Tbh, I think the intel fanboys are absolutely terrified of Bulldozer.

They probably should be...but AMD aren't just gonna roll over and take it in 2010. Ever since the abortion that was Phenom I, AMD have hit every target with months to spare.

There are surprises coming - nothing that is going to completely change anything in 2010, but nothing that is going to increase intels advantage either. It's all about closing the gap that little bit more until 2011.

The fact that AMD stripped out a full Floating Point Unit and weren't shy in mentioning it does point to Bulldozer being quite a capable processor.

I have no doubt that Intel fanbois are afraid... but irrational fears towards a product are just ridiculous 😛

This entire thread and settlement has nothing to do with what products Intel or AMD currently have on the market. Again, no sense of context and history relating to the particulars of the anti-competitive lawsuits and judgments against Intel and seemingly no understanding of the agreements between Intel and AMD. Also, not for nothing, but a $99 Athlon II X4 620 is a much better deal than an E5400, regardless of what the benchmarks show. C'mon, a QUAD CORE FOR $99! AMAZING!

put that aside. a core 2 q8200 will just demonish a2 x4 620 in 30% performance and it cost as low as $119. that is the reason amd couldn't take it anymore because intel is eating amd alive. and you are compete a quad core athlon 2 to a low budget processor that is years old? what a joke. "e5300/5400 can still destroy dual core athlon 2"

i was hoping if there's any constructive comment about how good amd is. not just bashing intel about "violation of "anti-trust", it's because intel's processor are too good makes people fear that intel will taking control the market? if so first thing you amd fan boys have to do is to slam on the face of your amd engineerers and tell them their job is not about only knowing holding a fork and knife and waiting for their lunch.

I was (jokingly) insinuating that AMD processors are in the "value" segment, aka, the low-end.

But I was only joking, I wouldn't call a Phenom II X4 965 a "value" processor. It's a great value, but it's most certainly a heavy hitter in terms of a desktop processor.

I'm not sure what you do for a living, but here on this anonymous Internet forum, multi-billion-dollar corporations do not need defending. Also, if a company is in the wrong, they do not require somebody to fight for them with no evidence, that doesn't help them at all.
