ip gateway password doesnt pop up.

I recently had to rest my router which is a Linksys wrt54g, I typed in the 192.168.1.1 code into the browser to set an internet password and I get the page where it says 401 code authorization but nothing pops up for me to enter the admin password. ive checked my computers gateway a few times and its the same 192.168.1.1 so im lost in why nothings popping up?

Are you trying to access wireless? Almost all consumer routers have wireless admin OFF by default. If you recently reset it back to factory spec, thats probably the issue.

I've been able to set up a wireless network but in trying to put the password on it so it's secure. How would I turn it back on or is there another way to secure my wireless network without it?

To get to the admin functions of the router, you need to connect via an ethernet cable. "Wireless admin" is almost certainly OFF.

Thank you. Im still kind of lost on how I would turn the wireless admin back on tho, even plugged in I still am not having it pop up.

Somewhere in the router setting, "wireless administration" is an option. But that is a really bad idea.

Right. Connect via a cable, secure it, and proceed on wirelessly.
