Question iphone 4s to iphone 8 transfer

how can i transfer all my text messages that i have on my iphone 4s to my iphone 8? i'm looking to transfer every message i've send on my on iphone 4s to my iphone 8

Back your phone up to iCloud. Then do a restore to the new phone

icloud on my iphone 4s doesn't give me the option to send text messages to icloud, unless there's a different way in the icloud settings it won't do it

the backup should contain all your messages. however they are in SQLite database not readable by a text editor.

so basically i have to use icloud to transfer everything? once i transfered everything from icloud i can delete everthing on icloud since i would already have a back up on my old iphone
