Iron Golem

I know the basics of making one, but I was wondering if the golem inherits
any of the weapons properties...ie if I were to make (not going to) an Iron
Golem out of a Bonehew, would the golem have the 50% chance to cast the bone
spear? Or does the golem just take the damage from the weapon and add it to
the base damage of the golem itself? Just wondering.

Thanks,
Matt

It inherits/uses many properties, but not all. As someone posted
earlier, it is as if the golem equips the item. Keep in mind that he
will likely not hit often and when he does, it is for little damage.
My favorite item to use was a 3 socket shield with flawlees diamonds
in it. With a decent level Summoning Resistance, he can be elemental
immune. In 1.09 I made a necro which specialized in only iron golem
and CE. His golem could stand in front of Baal or Diablo and just
laugh...unfortunately, my necro couldn't. He didn't fair well in 1.10
due to all the ranged attackers.

Yes, the golem inherits the properties.
I had one made from a Doom runeword (SP) that was absolutely awesome, for
all of about three or four minutes, until he hit one of those darn Oblivion
Knights. 🙁

Yup, I've made some from pretty good uniques that were great -- while
they lasted. The most durable iron golems are made from good rare or
magic Palladin shields. Might be fun to try a HOZ sometime. (-8
