Irregular Screen Brightness

The display on my Sony screen is irregular in brightness. I have a "blob" of
brightness that affects the quality of the display so that everything has a
green tint. If I adjust the brightness to 100% (using my monitor's
controls), it minimizes the "blob", but then everything is washed out. Sony
could not help with the problem and they replaced the monitor, but the "blob"
is still present. Help!!

Do you have anything magnetic close to the monitor. Do you see the blob
during boot up, before xp loads. Try starting in safe mode.

As the man suggested, anything magnetic, like a speaker that is NOT
magnetically shielded for use near a TV screen or a CRT monitor could cause
this... Also, any electronic device really. I had an air purifier that
cauased the screen on my CRT to jitttteeer. i have an LCD now so it makes no
difference.
