Is a Coolmaster 550w Realpower enough 4 a GTX285?

Will a Coolmaster 550W Realpower SLI be able to handle a GTX285? It is 80plus rated and my specs as currently are:

Intel DG35EC
Core2Duo E7400
9800GTX+
4 Gig DDR2 800 1.65v
2 320 7200rpm WD drives
Gigabyte GLite CPU Cooler
DVD Drive

So will taking out the 9800GTX+ and inserting a GTX285 make my system unstable of "just" exactly enough for the PSU to stand? I dont want to change anything anymore as I am waiting to make my next build next year when more tech comes out and like USB 3.0, SSDs, and Core i7 1336's are cheaper......

The general rule of thumb is a high quality 500 to 550 watt power supply with sufficient current (amps) on the 12 volt rail(s) can easily power a system with any single video card made.

You should be okay. The GTX285 maximum system wattage peak is about 385 Watts.

You need 24 amps on the 12v rails. You actually have 30 amps.

Even with all of the other stuff currently in my build and If I adda Blu-Ray x4 player? With all of the stuff I have including the case which is a gigabyte I-solo, and an extra fan and LED light inside will 550Watts still hold up? Its good to know that this PSU can take a GTX285 because the computer guy in the store told me it might be cutting it too close with a 285 and my current system...... I was thinking he was just trying to sell me on getting a new PSU which I wouldnt have anyway............... but If so, I will get the GTX285 OC or 5850 and I cant wait!

I wanted to make my next build but I will hold off until my PC current turns 3 then build another whole system with an X58 and hopefully with USB3.0 sometime next year!!

Let me know coz I am just waiting to get either of those cards...

How do you know it has 30 amps?

I have the specs of my PSU but it doesnt mention 30AMPs plus I threw out the box a while back when I got it....
These are the features, thing thing I dont know is whether my build with a GTX285 OC and add/replace DVD drive with a Blu-Ray reader, I already have to the use the molex converter to 6pin if im going to add another drive so im thinking of either replacing the DVD all together or just adding the BD Will be stable enough with the 550watts......

Since the GPU alone at maximum settings is at 385watts, then would that leave enough for the rest of my build to be powered up WITH some allowance to add a Blu-Ray drive? The GPU leaves only 165watts available for the rest...

That's peak power draw for an entire pc system measured at the wall outlet during an extreme stress test. The test system was an Intel Core i7 965 / X58 based pc overclocked to 3.7 GHz. The power draw at the wall outlet during a hardcore gaming session of Left 4 Dead at 2560x1600 resolution was about 335 watts. Power draw while playing any kind of dvd is significantly lower.

Wow, for a X58 overclocked and will 3channels DDR3, fans, ect? So I dont understand why many buy 1000Watt PSU's, Im assuming even a 650w can handle SLI and Crossfire thern.... is it just marketing or just future proofing, because it seems that PCs and GPUs are beoming power effecient thus negating the fact that we need to INCREASE in PSU wattage..... its going inversly now isnt it?
