But it has no ventilation. Is it bad? Maybe heating can cause damage?

Try it.
You can always run it with the cover off if heat becomes an issue.

I would be very suspicious. The pictured HDD claims to have a capacity of 8TB, but the model number is that of a 2TB HDD (WD20EFRX).

Heat is only an issue if the drive is busy doing something for a long period of time, like dumping everything onto it the first time. Even then, the enclosure itself can act as a rudimentary heat sink provided it's made of metal and enough of it is touching the hard drive's housing.
