I have an old PC with Pentium G630 it is working fine and fast for my browsing and office needs and I can also play DOTA 2 and LOL smoothly but playing with VALORANT is a little big lag during gunfights. So I am planning to upgrade to i5 2400 since it is a 4cores 4threads 3.4Ghz because right now my G630 hits top 100% load while playing.
I don't have plans to upgrade to a new system unit I just want to enjoy this old build for now so my question is if $30 i5 2400 is worth it?

Intel Pentium G630
Intel DH61ww
Kingston DDR3 1333 4Gb x 2
AMD Radeon HD6770 1Gb DDR5
WD Green 240Gb SSD
Inplay GS450 PSU

parapala23 Although the core i5 CPU would be an upgrade from your Pentium, you'd be much happier with a core i7 equivalent. The chip below is equivalent to an Intel core i7-2600 (4 cores / 8 threads), but costs significantly less. I am a Valorant player, and I recently bought this chip for a friend and upgraded her from a core i5 to this specific chip and she has immensely better frame rate plus she can twitch stream the game play simultaneously. She happens to game on a GTX 750 Ti. She plays the game 1080p @ 120 FPS (not sure of settings, but assume they are competitive) and streams the game at 900p @ 60 FPS / 6,000 kbps bitrate (NVENC encoding). This chip is about 50% greater performance over her previous core...
It seems to be the going price on ebay, if you not happy with the G630 then the 2400 will be a good boost for you. If you want to fully max out the CPU a i7 3770 is around $90 on ebay and would give you the best CPU performance for that board.

Addendum: One other thing: Since your HD6770 has only 1GB of VRAM, you'll probably want to keep the textures on low. Once you increase texture quality to the point of exceeding the VRAM on your GPU, the performance falls off a cliff. My friend's 750 Ti has 2GB of VRAM, so she has more flexibility with graphics settings than you do with the HD 6770. Let me know how you make out with the CPU upgrade.

Ebay search query: xeon e3-1240 -v2

LGA 1155 CPU list: You'll want a 4 core / 8 thread processor.

In your case, i5-2400 is sure worth $30 and you will notice performance increase. Don't forget CPU cooler though (i5-2400 can run much hotter than G630).
But in general I don't recommend investing much into your existing system anymore -but with $30 you're not a big spender anyway :)

^ I'd about be willing to bet they have the same stock cooler on that end. Intel isn't particularly well known for a wide range of cooling solutions, lol.

Just as a word of caution be sure to look up your specific motherboard and find the CPU compatibility list. Just having the socket be the same doesn't guarantee any of those chips will work properly.
